The Center for Teen Empowerment (TE)’s mission is to employ, train, and empower youth to, in collaboration with adults, create peace, equity, and justice. TE is a critically conscious youth development organization that believes that young people are critical assets to creating positive change in their own lives and their communities. Through a unique asset-based youth organizing program implemented in Boston and Somerville, MA, and Rochester, NY, TE employs youth ages 14-19 to identify the most pressing issues in their community and develop a strategy to address those issues. Using TE’s interactive model, the project builds the leadership skills of youth and trains them to do the planning and problem-solving necessary to implement their strategic plans.
