Seeking Resident Artists through Commonwealth Corps
Teen Empowerment is seeking 3 volunteers interested in joining Massachusetts' new Commonwealth Corps, a yearlong, stipended volunteer program. We need people who can work with youth on visual arts/graphic design, music, and film/video. Download a full description and contact us to apply.
Youth
Each Teen Empowerment site employs 10-12 youth organizers, ages 14 to 21, who work 10-12 hours per week throughout the school year and 20 hours per week during the summer. Learn more about what youth organizers do.
Many youth participate as volunteers in the production of TE's annual youth conferences in Boston, Somerville, and Rochester. These conferences provide many opportunities for young people to gain experience in mounting a big event, ranging from helping with publicity, to registration and other logistics, to production of the on-stage pieces. Conference day is exciting, and our volunteers enjoy themselves.

Adults
Adult volunteers are crucial to the success of the annual youth conferences and other events during the year.
Each year, more than 150 adult volunteers help make Teen Empowerment programs successful. Volunteers are needed periodically to help with event tasks such as registering participants, serving food, setting up tables and chairs, etc. In addition, volunteers sometimes help youth write and rehearse speeches, poems, skits, songs, and dances in preparation for organizing initiatives and our annual youth conferences in Boston, Somerville, and Rochester. Office volunteers are also sometimes needed to help with mailings and other administrative tasks.
In addition, we need volunteers to help with fund-raising events, such as our Celebration of Hope and Caring and small house parties.
